“My journey from atheism to a fervent believer in God's presence
has been an extraordinary one.”
In 2017, a profound moment changed the course of my life. Although the exact date
escapes me, the memory remains vivid. I found myself kneeling before the tabernacle,
witnessing its radiant glow. This experience marked the beginning of a transformative period in my life. To provide some context, this event occurred during my time at Emilio Aguinaldo
College (EAC) where I pursued the HUMSS track. Immersed in philosophical treatises, I
eventually became an atheist, questioning the existence of God. However, everything changed when I encountered Ephraim, a philosophy professor with an impressive background in classical and medieval studies, and a former seminarian. His profound knowledge and intellectual prowess captivated me, leading me on a path towards rediscovering my faith.
Under the tutelage of Professor Ephraim, I embarked on a quasi-orientation of history and the Catholic Church. His scholastic approach to teaching fascinated me, and I yearned to learn more about the Church, philosophy, and theology. Beyond the academic realm, I also sought to establish a genuine brotherly relationship with him. Through countless conversations and discussions on various philosophical topics, my journey of self-discovery began, and I soon realized that I was a lost lamb in need of guidance. This realization mirrored the conversion of St. Paul, compelling me to change my ways and rekindle my faith.
One Sunday morning, as I knelt in prayer before the tabernacle, an extraordinary event
occurred. The tabernacle itself emitted a gentle, pure white light. At first, I wondered if there was a hidden light bulb illuminating it, but upon closer inspection, I discovered there was none. The inexplicable radiance filled my heart with awe and reinforced my desire to pursue a deeper spiritual connection. Motivated by this encounter, I made the life-altering decision to enter the seminary, dedicating myself to a higher purpose.
Before entering the seminary, I spent two years as a devoted member of KOA (Knights of the Altar) at Santa Maria Euphrasia Parish Church in Cavite, Area E. This period of service
allowed me to deepen my understanding of the Catholic faith while actively contributing to the church community. Through various ministries and activities, I experienced personal growth and witnessed firsthand the power of faith in transforming lives.
My journey from atheism to a fervent believer in God's presence has been an extraordinary one. The encounter with Professor Ephraim and the illuminating experience at the tabernacle were pivotal moments that shaped my spiritual path. By embracing my newfound faith and actively engaging in the Catholic community, I have discovered the beauty and depth of Catholicism. This ongoing journey of faith has opened doors to self-discovery, personal growth, and an unwavering commitment to serve a higher calling.
