About the Mercedarian Friars Who are we?

At the core of the Mercedarian Friars' existence lies a profound commitment to
prayer and communal fraternity. Following the Rule of Saint Augustine and the
Constitutions of the Order, the friars adhere to a lifestyle deeply rooted in spiritual
devotion. By embracing prayer as a means to strengthen their connection with
God, they cultivate a deep sense of spirituality that permeates every aspect of their lives.
The Mercedarian Friars draw inspiration from their founder, Saint Peter Nolasco, a
compassionate and selfless individual who imitated Jesus the Redeemer. Nolasco's
unwavering commitment to the welfare of those in need of redemptive love serves
as a guiding light for the friars. He even went to the extent of offering his own life
to secure the release of Christian captives. Today, the Mercedarian Friars carry on
this noble mission by striving to bring solace and liberation to those who are
spiritually or physically imprisoned.
