According to many, Vocation in a religious context is God's call to serve Him in the world. My opinion is that Vocation is how one responds and lives in response to the call of God. God summons us to serve Him and His people through Baptism and Confirmation, so every Catholic is called to serve God and His people. But what distinguishes us as religious is that we are called to serve Him through a specific way of life.
Due to a variety of unforeseen circumstances, the status of Vocation for all religions alters at various phases of life. I'm no exception to this. In this life, one person cannot spend all of their time pursuing their vocation. At the same time, there are challenges and discerning moments for self-reflection in store for everyone. Every time the status of vocation suffers a decline, it is deliberately placed in our lives by God to prompt us to examine, discover, and rediscover our calling and find out what we are called. I have treasured my Call to serve God and His people because of the pleasure I have been experiencing in the process of discovering and rediscovering myself in God.
Being a Montfortian Taking up my Cross is my Vocation because the cross helps me discover and rediscover myself in God. I consider it a privilege to have crossed in my life, as they enable me to set aside my strengths and ego and make me more meek and compassionate. God manifests Himself only through the neglected, downtrodden, needy, impoverished, and despised, and only by being humble and compassionate can we comprehend their suffering and alleviate it.
This is how I strive to pursue my vocation In Christ! Every time I discover myself, I am renewed and reborn, and I require this rebirth to serve Him and His people with even greater enthusiasm and vigor.
